Papeete Airport Closure
SOURCE: TABS on Travel
Air Tahiti Nui and Air New Zealand have advised that, due to strike action by government employees (including airport emergency fire crews) all wide-body jet flights to/from Tahiti's Fa'aa (Papeete) Airport have been cancelled or suspended. At this stage, there is no indication of how long the strike will last.
If you have upcoming flights booked with Air Tahiti Nui or Air New Zealand, please contact your designated APX Consultant immediately to check your flight status and update your contact details in your flight reservation, so that you can be contacted by the airline if neccessary.
Both carriers have indicated that they will waive airline cancellation fees and change fees should you wish to travel at a later date (prior to 10 July), subject to availability.
Air New Zealand also advises that passengers booked to travel to Tahiti are able to travel to another destination (with fare differential) prior to 10 July.
Air New Zealand has had to cancel this morning's service to Tahiti because of the strike action.
Air Tahiti Nui's next flight (TN102) is scheduled for Thu 17 June; and Air New Zealand's next scheduled flight (NZ40) is on Friday 18 June.
At APX we are currently contacting all travellers with flights booked to Tahiti over the next two weeks to discuss options. If you have flights booked to arrive or depart from Papeete Airport over the next two weeks, and you have not yet heard from us, please contact your designated APX Consultant immediately.
