Customer Care update: Indonesia
Four strong earthquakes on 16 June struck off the north coast of Papua province between 12.00 and 13.00 (local time).
The largest of these, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake, occurred at 12.16 at a depth of six miles (10km) around 100 miles (165km) north of the town of Enarotali, triggering a local tsunami warning; the warning has since been lifted.
The strong tremor was preceded by a 6.4-magnitude earthquake in the same region. Two aftershocks measuring 5.1 and 6.2 were subsequently reported. Although the extent of damage remains unclear at this stage, at least two fatalities have been reported following the earthquakes.
Although the damage is only in the Papua Province, we are currently contacting all travellers in Indonesia as a courtesy to ensure their safety. If you are concerned about your upcoming travel to Indonesia, or if you have employees currently travelling in the area and you have not yet heard from us, please contact your designated APX Consultant immediately.
